PERSONALLY INITIATED ACHIEVEMENTS

• First free childcare in San Ramon for young, working families at no cost to the city.

• First Climate Action Task Force that helped update our 2011 Climate Action Plan (CAP) and chartered our first Sustainability Advisory Committee to implement and identify external grants for our CAP. This committee will address city climate sustainability and resiliency issues including minimizing environmental impact, adapting to climate change, meeting present needs without compromising future generations’ ability to meet theirs, surviving climate events, and thriving under changing conditions.

• First display of the July Disability Pride Flag to raise awareness about the needs of people with disabilities and be an inclusive society.

• Negotiated more inclusionary, affordable workforce housing for our teachers, first responders, essential, and healthcare workers, so that they can work, live, and play in San Ramon. 

• Expanded residents' access to our community programs by proposing thoughtful, inclusive policies and improving public transportation.

• Met state-mandated housing by encouraging balanced mixed use, infill development in the city core to protect our open spaces.

• Strengthened our economic profile to attract competitive businesses and tourism through improved community shared spaces and more accessible, safer walk/bike trails including a county-funded Iron Horse Trail dual track system to address safety concerns such as e-bikes. ​

• As Director of the Contra Costa County Transportation Agency (CCCTA), we launched the first Youth Ride Free Program in the County and improved Paratransit services for seniors and people with disabilities.

• Provided San Ramon high school and college students with internship opportunities through our Teen Government 101 and political leadership opportunities. These are internships my office personally offered and would not be available otherwise.

COUNCIL ACHIEVEMENTS

• Traffic Mitigation:

  • ​Constructed an eight award-winning Bollinger Canyon Road Overpass that was more than 82% funded by external grants and reduced three hours of red-light traffic onsite daily.

  • Approved a regional Coordinated Adaptive Ramp Metering (CARM) program on I‑680 at no cost to the city as part of a three‑year demonstration aimed at cutting travel times by about 10%.

• Secured $2M in federal funds to advance a fiber-optic network and smart-signal systems that will enhance digital connectivity and transportation efficiency. 

• Secured additional developer in-lieu impact fees for our city beautification and amenities on the Iron Horse Trail, expanding our library and community services, and maintaining our parks and public works infrastructure. 

• Maintained a AAA S&P Global financial credit rating and within one year under Measure N resolved an inherited $17.6M structural deficit and attained a general and reserve fund surplus.
